Recall questions, answered

How do I know if something I own has been recalled?

Search for the brand, product name or model number above. Each recall page shows the exact models, batch codes or dates affected, and what to do. If nothing comes up, that's a good sign – but check the product's own label for a model or batch number and search for that too.

Do I get my money back if a product is recalled?

Usually, yes. Most recalls offer a refund, repair or replacement – and you normally don't need a receipt. The recall notice tells you who to contact. Read your rights after a recall.

Is a car recall repair free?

Yes. Safety recall work is done free of charge by the manufacturer's dealers, even if the car is out of warranty or you're not the first owner.

Where does this information come from?

Every recall comes from an official source: the Office for Product Safety and Standards (products), the Food Standards Agency and Food Standards Scotland (food and allergy alerts), the DVSA (vehicles), the MHRA (medicines and medical devices) and the Veterinary Medicines Directorate (pet medicines) – plus official recall notices from retailers such as IKEA and Lidl. We check them every 15 minutes and link to the official notice on every page.

Is this a government website?

No. Is It Recalled? is an independent service that brings all the official UK recall lists together in one place so they're easier to search.
